What are essential oils?
Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds found in seeds, bark, stems, roots and flowers of plants. They can be both beautifully and powerfully fragrant, eliciting profound emotional responses. Yet the use of essential oils goes well beyond their fragrant appeal. Used throughout history for their medicinal and theraputic benefits, essential oils can be used as natural alternatives in holistic self-care practices. Their unique chemistry allows them to be used aromatically and topically applied to the skin, while other essential oils can be used as dietary aids to promote vitality and well being.
doTerra (meaning "Gift of the Earth") essential oils represents the safest, purest essential oils available in the world today. Each of doTerra's CPTG Certified Pure Theraputic Grade® essentials oils is carefully extracted by a global network of skilled growers, distillers and chemists ensuring a consistently powerful user experience. They are 100% pure aromatic extracts and contain no artificial ingredients and are tested to be free of contaminants such as pesticides or other chemical residues.

I know these work. Tyler has used these as he cannot take over the counter medications due to the medicines he is currently taking. He uses peppermint for headaches or stomach aches and Deep Blue for muscle / body aches. He has used Breathe for sinus and congestion.

What Matters Most
If life and its rushed pace and many stresses have made it difficult for you to feel like rejoicing, then perhaps now is a good time to refocus on what matters most.

Dogs

Princess Sadee
Dogs are great. They have unconditional love for you. They are always happy to see you no matter what kind of day you have. They give you kisses - my Panther gives hugs. My Sadee dog has moved in with her grandma. She was bitten two years ago by my neighbor dog and was mad when Tyler got Panther, so she is happier living with her Grandma and Aunt Janet. I am grateful for my dogs.

Friends
My bestie - Abbie

Ultrasound of her baby - 1 1/2" long @ 9 weeks along
I am grateful for friends. My bestie at work, Abbie, is going to be a mom. She is SO VERY EXCITED and I am so very excited for her. We have been friends for 4 1/2 years. When my very best friend, MarLa, passed away 5 years ago, I was so lost. We had been friends for 18 years and she was only 43 when she died. I felt so lost without her. I miss her still every day. I am so glad I have such a good friend that I can share good time, bad times, happy times, sad times and especially now we can share baby prep times.

Ty and Blake and the new play house
Are they not the cutest boy's ever? They are Ty and Blake, my nephews. One day they are checking out their new play house their talented dad made and the next day they were wishing it was not snowing. Oh to be 5 and 2... life is simple and then you grow up.

Do It Anyway
People are often unreasonable, irrational and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successfuly, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and sincere, people may cheat you;
Be honest and sincere anyway.
What you spend years creating, someone could destroy overnight;
Create anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, will often be forgotten;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it will never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.
In the final analysis, it is between you and God;
it was never between you and them anyway.

Rise Above
Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond the illusion
I was soaring ever higher, but I flew too high.
Though my eyes could see I was still blind
Though my mind could think I was still mad
Carry on my wayward child
For there'll be peace when you are done
On a stormy sea of emotion
Tossed about like a ship on the ocean
Carry on you will always remember
Carry on, nothing equals the splendor
Surely heaven waits for you.

Milestones...
Left to right - Tyler, Chris, Ciara, Bruna & Bryn
(Trek family members)
mile·stone
[mahyl-stohn]
a significant event or stage in the life, progress,development, or the like of a person, nation, etc.
Tyler is 1/4 of the way through his senior year at Vantage Point High School. A new year... a new school... a new Tyler. He has made amazing strides since April. He just graduated from the Discovery Program - a mandatory required class at Vantage Point. Today is day 3 of seminary attendance - thank you Taylor Carlson, whom I have loved for almost 25 years (I used to be his nanny so I can say that).
Tyler gave a talk in church yesterday on Keeping the Sabbath Day holy... something we can all strive to and be better at. His purple tie matched the purple accents in his black hair. He looked so handsome and did a great job for speaking off the cuff (no notes or written out talk).
Sometimes life doesn't turn out the way you want or expect, but things happen to you for a reason. Tyler is my biggest reason for life today!

Long Overdue Update
Where has the summer gone? It is September and fall is around the corner. Just a bit of an update on life... Cheryl has made a miraculous recovery. Faith plus Prayers = Miracles! Baby Joseph is almost two months old and is doing well. He will have to have some surgery somewhere between the age of 4 to 6 months to remove the cist on his spinal cord, but there is a very high success rate for this surgery as infants. He has also had some genetic testing done (no results yet) as he has 13 ribs, a hole in his ear - resembling an ear piercing, and a large tongue plus being tongue tied. Thank you to anyone and everyone who prayed on behalf of my sister Cheryl, her baby Joseph and their family.
Tyler and I both celebrated July birthdays. Tyler is 17 now and just started his senior year at Vantage Point High School. This is a fresh start for him and I am proud of the young man he is. He has had some large obstacles in his life the past 5 months. We are working through them and he is happy to be starting fresh at a new school.
I have plenty of pictures to post and will do so over the long weekend.

Today
This is the beginning of a new day.
I have been given this day to use as I will.
What I do today is important, because
I am exchanging a day of my life for it.
I want it to be a gain, not a loss;
Good not evil;
Success not failure;
In order that I shall not regret
The price I paid for it.
My sister Cheryl is doing better today. Most of the life support has
been removed. She is making small steps toward recovery. If you read my blog, please say an extra prayer for her and her baby Joseph.
Miracles happen.. prayers are answered...Life is a gift!

In Memory of Father Mickey

Ordained to the priesthood May 31, 1997. He has served the
Archdiocese of Denver at various parishes in the area.
Brother of Judy (Charles) Marmann, Barbara (Bill) Engle,
James B. (Shirley) Flaska, andJanice Beecher.
Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, 1:30 p.m.,
Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 1530 Logan St., Denver.
Interment, Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Today I went to the funeral of Father Mickey. Mickey was a
friend of mine I met when Iworked in the office supply
industry 20 years ago. He had the best sense of humor
and made work a fun place to be. I was there when
he was ordained a priest
and saw him on and off since he became a priest. I last saw
him two years ago in
Longmont right before Christmas.
He was a very selfless man who cared about everyone he met.
I am grateful
I knew him and know I will see him again someday.
Until we meet again...

A New Chapter
(left to right - Justin, Stephanie, Lynette, Terry, Melanie and Nicole)
Terry and Lynette Packer - August 2009
After living in Colorado most of her life, my sister Lynette and her family are moving to Williston, North Dakota. Her husband Terry got a job as an electrical supervisor. All but their youngest is off on their own or soon will be. Nicole will be a sophomore in high school in the fall. Best of luck in their new endeavors. We will miss them.

Birthdays and Baseball
Last weekend - April 25th was The Boss's Birthday. The Boss is my sister, Janet. That is my nickname for her. We have alot of fun together. We shop, go to the gym, walk the dogs and just have fun. I made her dinner - Honey Lime Chicken Enchiladas and a to die for dessert - Chocolate Eclair Cake! Yum.
Last Monday (April 26th) was the 15th anniversary of the opening of Coors Field. In remembrance of that opening day and in honor of the first home run, the Rockies brought back Dante Bichette. They even brought back Alan Roach, the original voice of the Rockies. Dante Bichette was his favorite name in the Rockies line up to say. And the surprise icing on the cake - Dante's best friend and team mate, Larry Walker, was there for the celebration! It was awesome.
Baseball and birthdays are the way to celebrate!

Easter
Easter was quiet - Tyler was not feeling well - allergies have consumed his body and made him completely miserable.
We had dinner at my sister Diane's house. Ham, gooey potatoes, watergate salad, rolls, asparagus, edible chicks (dessert) and oreo cookie dessert.
After a brief visit, it was off to urgent care to be told that claritin and flonase are the best bet for Tyler. He was not impressed and mom is hoping for a quick month to pass in hopes of the pollen and blooms to be on their way.
